Hailing from the south of France, Trad/Thrash monsters Sigis release their debut album Le Grand Retour De Nibiru. Reading their Bio I came across this statement “Metal; the only vehicle able to bear the embarrassment of truth” how spot on is that! It’s obvious that Sigis understand Heavy Metal as it shows not only with that statement, but also in the high quality of music displayed on Le Grand Retour De Nibiru. Which is unfortunately let down by the bad production, all the lyrics are sung in French, which for me is always refreshing to hear Metal in a bands native tongue, then trying to sing in English. And unlike all these new Thrash bands that blatantly rip off the greats, Sigis stand on their on feet and don’t feel the need to blatantly rip off riffs. Sigis have a lot going for them and it will interesting to see were they will take it from here as something tells me it can only get better.
